(Salted) Caramel

Recipes without the 10000 word essays

Ingredients

  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Salted Butter @ room temp. - 6 tbsp
  • Cream - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp
  • Vanilla - 2 tsp

Instructions

Melt Sugar

  • Melt sugar (1 cup)
    • medium low heat
    • stir frequently

Mix in Butter

  • Stir in butter (6 tbsp)
    • will bubble up, that’s expected
    • if not combining nicely, remove from heat and whisk vigorously
  • Return to heat for another minute without stirring

Mix in Cream

  • Very slowly stir in cream (1/2 cup)
    • will bubble up, that’s expected
  • Boil for a minute without stirring

Mix in Salt/Vanilla

  • remove from heat
  • stir in salt (1/2 tsp to 1 tsp) and vanilla (2 tsp)
  • let cool
